Kegler Brown Diversity Scholarship Essay

Kegler Brown maintains an internal Diversity + Inclusion Committee to formalize and further the firm’s commitment to achieving racial and gender diversity at all levels of our organization. A combined sub-group of the diversity and recruiting committees is also in place and is charged with setting and accomplishing our diversity goals and metrics. As a result, the firm has increased its efforts to recruit and to actively encourage the application and selection of diverse candidates in the firm's recruiting programs.

Kegler Brown Diversity Scholarship

Every year, the firm awards a Diversity Scholarship to a first-year law student. The $10,000 scholarship includes a paid clerkship position with the firm’s summer associate class. All first-year law students who are members of historically underrepresented populations are eligible to apply for the scholarship. 2018 marks the 15th year for the Kegler Brown Diversity Scholarship, which is awarded to a diverse student based on academic performance, accomplishments, activities and potential contributions to the legal community. Students from all law schools are considered for the scholarship. The application for this year’s scholarship can be found here.

Managing Partners' Diversity Initiative

As a charter member of the Columbus Bar Association’s Diversity Initiative, Kegler Brown works with other local law firms, local law schools and the bar to significantly increase the number of diverse attorneys recruited, hired and promoted by our firm. Through this initiative, our firm is helping to make a positive change in the demographics of Columbus law firms.

Women Lawyers' Initiative

When Kegler Brown established its Women Lawyers’ Initiative in 2000, we set out to empower our female attorneys in every aspect of their lives. From professional development and client advocacy to mentoring and personal growth, we’re proud of the leadership roles our attorneys have taken in the community. Wherever you look, you will find the women of Kegler Brown raising the bar in the courtroom, the board room and in our neighborhoods.

Join us on Thursday, January 11, at the offices of Kegler Brown Hill + Ritter as we celebrate the impact of cultural diversity on the Columbus legal community.

At this reception, you will have the chance to meet Kegler Brown attorneys, network with other law school students and learn more about the diversity initiatives that are essential to our firm, including the Managing Directors’ Diversity Initiative, the Women Lawyers’ Initiative, the Diversity + Inclusion Committee and our Kegler Brown Diversity Scholarship program.

Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served throughout the event as we toast to our continued commitment to achieving diversity at all levels of our organization.

Kegler Brown is currently accepting applications for our 2018 Diversity Scholarship. Application information can be found here.
